what is the best tide location to look at for the Golden Meadow, Galliano area? How much would you add or subtract from the times given?

Arowe,

Go to this link below ... type type in the date, and choose the appropriate location. ( IE : Grande Isle for Fourchon, Empire Jetties for Buras, etc ... )

As a rough rule of thumb, I use the following:
the tide is this area is half a cycle off that posted for the Grand Isle/Bayou Rigaud site. In other words, if the tide is at 12 noon at Grand Isle, then the tide will start to come in in the Golden Meadow area.

Vince,

Did I read that right?

High tide scheduled for 12 Noon @ Bayou Rigaud equals the tide just starting to rise at Golden Meadow? Wow! I'd have guessed appx. three hours behind whatever it says for Bayou Rigaud.

For Fourchon I generally add about an hour to what it says for B. Rigaud. Is that about right?

Yak.

I base it upon an are north of Catfish Lake, near Bason's launch. It is very rough, but if it high tide slack at GI then the tide near the Sulphur Mine will just begin to rise.

It is amazing how a few miles can make a significant difference. On many occasions, we have left the camp (on Bayou Blue near Bason's)at a slack tide, and headed south towards Calm Lake/Bay Courant, and the tide would be moving very hard there.

Oh, I absolutely believe you. Heck, you've forgotten more about that area than I've learned. I was just kinda shocked.

Does my estimation for Fourchon sound reasonable? Appx. 1 hr later than Bayou Rigaud?

Thanks Wali! I bookmarked the first one. That site is amazing! Look what they had marked on the tide chart! (see attached)
