| If you're looking for a place to fish
early in the season and want a shot at some big fish Croton
Point Park on the Hudson River may be the place for you. The
park is run by Westchester Parks and in season you'll need
a resident pass, however by the time you'd need one the fish
will be long gone. This area starts to turn on in late March
and continues until the end of April. You're targeting Stripers
as they head up the Hudson to spawn and on their return trip
down river. It's a place where they like to stop off. A fish
finder is invaluable here because the fish sit in holes that
are around the park. To the East of the park there are some
flats where the fish also hang out at. Trolling is a good
way to locate fish in this area and the brighter the color
the better. Keep in mind that Herring is major forage in this
area so select lures with this in mind. It seems that the
bait guys do very well with worms so I think the place is
a natural for a Tube-and-Worms. Its my plan to use them this
Spring. As to launching your kayak you have two choices; one
is to launch right before the train bridge upon entering the
park (I have marked this with a red dot on map) or two head
into park and launch at beach (also marked on map). You'll
need wheels. Croton Point Park. Croton-on-Hudson, NY
